Signs Your Roof Is Trying To Tell You Something

Most problems aren’t visible from the ground. Here’s what we tend to find when we get up there — and what it means for your home.

  • Granules in Your Gutters: Those small black or gray granules collecting in your gutters aren't dirt. They're coming off your shingles. When shingles lose granules they lose their ability to protect against UV and water. It's one of the earliest warning signs of a roof that's aging out.
  • Curling or Buckling Shingles: Shingles that curl at the edges or buckle in the middle are no longer laying flat against your roof. That gap is an open invitation for water. This usually means the shingles are past their lifespan or were improperly installed.
  • Hail Damage: Hail impact leave circular bruise-like marks on shingles that are almost impossible to see from the ground. They look minor but they compromise the shingle at that exact point. Over time water gets in. Most homeowners never know they have hail damage until they have a leak — and by then the insurance window may have closed.
  • Water Stains on Your Ceiling: A brown or yellow ring on your ceiling is not a paint problem. It's a roof problem that has already made its way through your attic and into your living space. By the time you see it inside, the damage above is usually worse than it looks.
  • Damaged or Missing Flashing: Flashing is the metal strip that seals the edges around your chimney, vents, and skylights. When it cracks, lifts, or goes missing, those areas become the first place water enters. It's one of the most common causes of leaks and one of the most overlooked.
  • Sagging Roof Deck: If any part of your roofline looks like it's dipping or sagging, that's a structural issue. It usually means moisture has been sitting in the decking long enough to weaken it. This goes beyond shingles — the deck underneath needs attention urgently.
  • Your Roof Is 20+ Years Old: Age alone is a reason to get an inspection. Most asphalt shingle roofs last between 20 and 30 years depending on installation quality and weather exposure. If yours is in that range and hasn't been inspected recently, you don't know what's up there.

Roof Repair

Not every roofing problem needs a full replacement. Missing shingles, small leaks, storm damage, damaged flashing — and even damage caused by fallen trees or large branches — can often be repaired when caught early. We assess what’s actually wrong and repair exactly that. Nothing more, nothing less. Most repairs are completed in a single visit.

Roof Replacement

When a repair isn’t enough, we handle full replacements from tear-off to final inspection. As GAF Certified roofers serving North Carolina, our installs meet manufacturer standards and qualify for extended warranties. Most full replacements are completed within 2-3 days.
